Popular group Big Bang grabbed the ‘Best Fan’ category as the first Asian singer at the ‘2012 MTV Italy Awards.’
Big Bang was revealed to have won another MTV award following ‘Best Worldwide Act’ back in November at MTV’s 2011 Europe Music Awards. The group was announced as the winner on the evening of May 5 (local time) in Florence Italy at the Piazza Santa Croce.
Other nominees in the same category were world stars such as pop star Avril Lavigne, famous idol group One Direction, and more. Big Bang competed against them and won the awards the first Asian singer.
The ‘TMV TRL Awards’ began in 2006 to honor Italy’s most favored artists and their music videos in the industry. The ‘Best Fan’ category of the awards is decided by through online voting of worldwide music fans.
YG Entertainment shared, “We are very happy and honored to have win an award at MTV TRL Awards. We want to thank all of our worldwide fans for their continuous support for Big Bang.”
Big Bang is to meet 150,000 Japanese fans through their Arena Tour that will kick off on May 17 from Nagoya, Osaka, Saitama, and Fukuoka.
