2011 was really a year to remember. With a lot of new albums released as well as new artist that entered the music industry, 2011 was a very successful year for so many artists. For an example, Korean Group, BigBang, won ‘World Act’ at the EMAs this past year. 2NE1 won the award for the ‘Best New Band in the World’ at the MTV’s IGGY. Also, the Wonder Girls released their first full album in a while. With just a few weeks from when ‘Be My Baby’s music video was released, it gained millions of views.
Girls’ Generations also had their share of wins with more than triple wins on TV programs as well as having their first Maxi album released in the US.
Japanese girl group, Fairies received the ‘Best New Artist Award’ at the Japan Record Awards. On the other hand, AKB48 became one of the most unstoppable girl group this past year after they nabbed the highly coveted Japan Record Award from the “The 53rd Kagayaku! Japan Record Awards“! Asian Kung-Fu Generations released a new album and Singer Koda Kumi announced she will be getting married a few weeks after releasing the music video for her track ‘Love Me Back’.
This year has also been fruitful for OneAsiaa as we held our first contest as well gained new members in our family. We also started new categories as well as new segments. With 22% of the votes, the winner goes to 2NE1 for ‘I Am The Best’.
Best Song of the Year: J-Pop: SHINee – Replay (Japanese Ver.)
With 26% of the votes, the winner goes to SHINee for ‘Replay”.
Best Album of the Year: J-Pop: 2NE1 – Nolza
With 20% of the votes, 2NE1 took first place again with their Japanese album, NOLZA.
Best Album of the Year: K-Pop: Super Junior – Mr. Simple
It was a close one, but with 16% of the votes, Super Junior wins the Best K-Pop album of 2011.
Best Music Video: K-Pop: 2NE1 – I Am The Best
Once again, 2NE1 takes the win.
Who gave the Best J-Pop Music Video in 2011: SHINee
Another win for SHINee! This past year, SHINee focused on their Japanese activities mostly. They released their first album ‘The First’ and also released the Japanese version of ‘Lucifer’ and ‘Replay’.
Best Party Track: K-Pop: 2PM – Hands Up
With 41% of the votes, 2PM wins for Best Party track with ‘Hands Up’. In 2011, 2PM really worked hard for the fact that they were active in both Japan and Korea promoting.
Best Rapper: K-Pop (Male): BEAST’s Yong Jun-Hyung
With 38% of the votes, B2ST’s Joker wins for the Best 2011 male k-pop rapper. BEAST also won for the Best Song of 2011 for ‘Fiction’ at the 2011 KBS Gayo Daejoon. Member Kikwang also won the Newcomer Awards at the MBC Drama Awards.
Best Rapper: K-Pop (Female): 2NE1’s CL
With 56% of the votes, the ‘Baddest Female’ wins for the Best Female Rapper of 2011.
Best Female Solo Singer: K-Pop: IU
With 40% of the votes, IU takes the win for best K-Pop solo singer of 2011. IU’s song “You & I” was #1 on the Melon music chart for four consecutive weeks or 28 days. Both in 2010 and throughout this past year, IU recorded #1 songs for all her other title tracks, which include “Good Day“, “Story Only I Didn’t Know“, “Someday“, “Hold My Hand“, “Frozen Flower“, and “You & I”.
IU took the year-end #1 K-Chart at Music Bank’s‘ ‘2011 Annual Year End Show‘ on December 23rd for “Good Day”.
Best Male Solo Artist: K-Pop: Kim Hyun Joong
With 51% of the votes, Kim Hyun Joong wins for the Best Male Solo Artist of 2011! Kim Hyun Joong was also on a roll this year. He won his case against MOGEF to remove the ban placed on the music video for his track “Please”.
Kim Hyun Joong also took home the ‘KIA Soul People’s Choice‘ award at the 2011 Style Icon Awards that took place on November 3rd. This makes it his third consecutive award that he had been honored with at the particular event.
Furthermore, he received a total of 4 awards including the prize for Asia Top Searched Star, Male Buzz Star and Hong Kong and Taiwan’s Best Star at the Yahoo! Buzz Awards.
Best Rookie Artist: K-Pop: BOYFRIEND
With 29% of the votes, BOYFRIEND wins for the Best K-Pop Rookie Artist of 2011!
Cutest Choreography: K-Pop: F(X) – Danger
With 38% of the votes, F(X) wins for the Cutest Choreography of 2011 with Danger.
Best Anime: Naruto Shippuden
With 33% of the votes, Naruto Shippuden wins for the Best Anime of 2011!
Best K-Drama: Dream High
With 21% of the votes, Dream High is the ‘Best K-Drama’ of 2011 according to your votes.
It is said that Dream High 2 will broadcast its first episode the late January(this month) with a new cast.
